For the grand re-opening of the Oakland Museum of California, the venue is holding a 31 hour event (11am Saturday to 6pm...Sunday) to promote the newly reopened exhibits and to prove to the world that Oakland actually is a world class cultural center that is unfortunately often overshadowed by its big brother, San Francisco.
And while the crowd was full of hipsters galore (and smelly ones at that), the whole event was packed full of everything, from Bollywood dance parties...
to exhibits of California history...
to an art gallery featuring California artists...
modern art strikes again!
and one board, while addressing the fact that our state is not nearly as golden as it once was, asked the question, "how do you fix a broken system?" I made sure to give my wise and experienced opinion:
